RYA Day Skipper Practical

An English, a French, a New Zealander, a German and a Singaporean are on a yacht. What happens?

In my juvenile aspiration to be an Ocean Yachtmaster and sail around the world someday, I decided to take up a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) course to be a certified skipper. Barely introduced to sailing when I joined a Competent Crew course just months ago, this was going to be quite a big step. 5 days of living aboard, and as skippers we were given full control to bring the boat from Singapore across to Indonesia and back. And maybe meet some pirates along the way.

Protip: Don't let anyone tie a rope to you on a sailing yacht when it's boring.

This is life on a boat heeled over 30 degrees. You just sit on the walls.
The amount of fun on a sailing yacht is proportionate to the heel.
